GCT Semiconductor is focused on developing integrated semiconductor solutions for wireless devices that leverage the benefits of its patented direct conversion architecture.

GCT Semiconductor is a fabless semiconductor company that designs, develops and markets innovative integrated circuit solutions for the wireless communications industry.

The radio frequency (RF) functionality of GCT's products is based upon its patented direct conversion architecture. This versatile RF architecture has the ability to support many of the wireless communication standards, including Bluetooth and IEEE 802.11b/g. The company's long-term goal is to leverage the multi-mode capabilities of the direct conversion architecture into semiconductor products that will enable a wireless device to communicate via several wireless standards.

Although the direct conversion architecture can be applied to a number of different process technologies, all of GCT's products are designed for fabrication on Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) processes, which increases the opportunities for silicon-level integration with other functions and provides the benefits of CMOS yields. GCT is involved with the qualification of the RF CMOS process, which is currently being developed at the facilities of its foundry partners. RF CMOS satisfies the market demands for low cost, lower power and high integration semiconductor products supporting wireless applications in the 1 to 3 GHz bands.

GCT Semiconductor currenltly offers GSM/GPRS RF transceiver for mobile phone handsets, a multimedia Bluetooth audio streaming chipset, BlueRF, and single chip WLAN RF transceiver.

In the coming months, GCT will release a single-chip dual mode Bluetooth and multimedia solution and a dual mode 802.11b/g ("Wi-Fi") wireless LAN chip.

The GCT executive team consists of the following members:

Dr. K.H. Lee, President & CEO / Chairman of the BOD
Mr. Ron Wilderink, Vice President of Finance &
   Administration and Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Alex Sum, Vice President, Marketing
Mr. Fred Lancia, Vice President, Sales
Dr. J.B. Park, Vice President, Engineering / Analog
Dr. Steve Kang, Vice President, Engineering /
Dr. Jeemee Kim, Vice President, Engineering / Digital
Mr. J.D. Yoon, Vice President, Production

GCT Semiconductor employs over 150 people, including more than 100 engineers (at least 17 of whom hold doctorate degrees), at its headquarters in Silicon Valley and design and engineering centers in Seoul, South Korea. All of GCT's engineers hold at least master degrees in engineering.

At the end of 2002, GCT has successfully completed the closing of its $38 million Series C equity round, bringing the total amount of equity financing raised since the company's inception in 1998 to more than $54 million. The Series C round was led by Pequot Ventures, and other participants included National Semiconductor Corporation, Pericom Semiconductor Corporation, UOB Venture Management, 3V SourceOne Ventures, Mizuho Capital and ITX International Equity. GCT can utilize the new capital to transition its products from sampling into mass production, expand its geographical marketing presence and distribution channels, and continue developing innovative products.
